A wise man once
said, "We get nearer to the Lord through music than perhaps
through any other thing except prayer. We are in a
position, as church musicians, to touch the souls of those who
listen." This has been my only standard and goal as a
church musician. I have enjoyed working at CLUMC, making
several life-long friends, and helping to edify the congregation
in every way to make way for the Holy Spirit to open their
hearts and souls. It has been very rewarding work, but
now, it is time for me to go. therefore, I am resigning
from my post of Director of Music Ministries at Countyline UMC,
and my last day will be June 22nd.
As some of you know,
I have been declining in health over the last year; I feel that
I must step down from my position and focus on my
recovery. My resignation is the best move for ME, my
health, and ultimately, my family.
Nothing can take
away my affection for County line. How can it? God
made a promise to me about 20 years ago through Isaiah 54.
My husband and I waited 18 years for Him to fulfill that
promise. Now we see that not only did we have to wait for
the children God intended for us, but we had to arrive at the
right place to receive them. God intended County Line to
be our 'birthing room'. I'll always remember County Line
as "the church that helped us find our children",
welcoming them with open arms from day one; the shower given
them upon their arrival and the older adults who 'adopted' them
as their grandchildren. I believe those gestures have
healed their hearts and bodies more than any other thing.
God wanted our children to have Pastor John, their " two
Ms. Connies", their "two Ms. Karyn's", Ms. Amy,
Miss Dree, Ms. Bobbye, Ms. Lynda, Ms. Louella, and Ms. Nadine to
teach and nurture them. So you see, God not only chose US
to be parents for our two girls; He also chose YOU to nurture
them, as well, None others would do.
God has seen us
through this far, led us right up to our children. He has
command of our future, and He has promised us much - even as we
try to guess what comes next. Countyline was the venue for
my Isaiah 54 to be realized. And that is how I'll always
remember Countyline. God bless you all.
Not I, but Christ,
PATTI HARRIS
